How to Get Your First Club Residency in 2026

Landing your first club residency is a massive milestone. It provides consistent income, a regular platform to test new tracks, and builds massive credibility in your local scene.

1. Become a Regular First

Promoters rarely book unknowns holding USBs. Before you ever ask for a set, you need to be a familiar face. Attend their nights, buy drinks, support the current residents, and stay until the lights come on.

2. The "Value Add" Approach

When you finally approach the promoter, don't just say "I want to DJ". Ask them what nights are struggling or what gaps they need filled. Offer to play the difficult 10PM-11:30PM warm-up slot that no one else wants.

3. Bring People With You

At the beginner level, talent is secondary to your ability to bring people through the door. If you can guarantee 20-30 friends will buy tickets for your debut 11PM set, the promoter will absolutely give you a chance.

4. Present a Professional EPK

When they finally ask for your mixes, do not send a scattered SoundCloud link. Send them a polished DJ Promo Kit featuring your bio, your best club-focused mix, and your high-quality press shots.
